Hi, my name is Ben Hennessy, Director of Union Organizing. After becoming a warehouse employee in 1999 and later on a commercial class 1 driver, I was inspired by the power and benefits of being a Teamsters member. Although life was busy juggling work life, friends and family, I appreciated the higher standards, increased job security, and access to training and education opportunities in the Teamsters Union. Unlike my previous non-union jobs, being a Teamsters member gave me more rights, especially the right to speak up and have a meaningful say in improving my working conditions, which, when negotiated into my collective agreement, the company had to follow. With the Union making such a massive difference in my life, I wanted to give back. So, I started to connect with warehouse workers and drivers, just like you, expressing the great benefits of being a Teamster. I am proud to say, over the past few years thousands of warehouse employees and drivers have joined Teamsters Local 31 and are benefiting greatly.
